Event focusing on architecture and trees
Modena, Craftsman Village and Leonardi Archive
The event is inspired by the projects and drawings of architects Cesare Leonardi and Franca Stagi. Twenty years of research work aimed at the design of parks and urban greenery. The research of the two Modenese architects flowed into the volume “L’Architettura degli Alberi” (1982) and the manifesto project “Città degli Alberi di Bosco Albergati”.
During the days of the festival, some places in the city of Modena: the architect’s home-studio, the craftsmen’s workshops, disused spaces, industrial courtyards and the new Green Diagonal, will become the venue for lectures, exhibitions with archive material, multimedia installations, itineraries and guided tours, and workshops for children and adults.
The multimedia section of the fesival “Le metamorfosi degli alberi” (The metamorphosis of trees), set up in the MOP Modena Ovest Pavillion, will host photographic exhibitions and video installations by contemporary artists such as the Modenese architect and photographer Francesco Fantoni, who presents “They might be giants”, a work on monumental trees, realised in collaboration with the Emilia-Romagna Region. During the course of the festival, the pavilion will also put on live display the real daily transformations of plant organisms, populating the space with plants positioned among Cesare Leonardi’s Solids.
