Lille to Cali Workshop 2023

What was this call about? Cali belongs to the UNESCO Creative Cities Network of media arts since 2019. From that moment on, our commitment has been to actively cooperate between cities for the exchange of knowledge and best practices with creatives and artists in this field. To this end, Cali City of Media Arts in alliance with Rencontres Audiovisuelles of the city of Lille in France, designed the professional exchange program Cali X Lille 2023. Rencontres Audiovisuelles is an association with more than 25 years of experience, dedicated to the dissemination, education and innovation of audiovisual content. As part of the exchange program, an intensive theoretical-practical workshop was offered to 17 animation, design and media arts professionals living in Cali – Region, interested in learning about the video mapping technique. 

The workshop was led by Clément Goffinet (Lille) and Mauricio Díaz (Cali), both expert artists in video mapping, and was held from Monday June 5 to Saturday June 10, at Universidad Autónoma de Occidente. The goal was to initiate and strengthen skills and knowledge of creatives and artists of the city in this developing field. The final result of the workshop will be the first media art experience co-created between Cali UNESCO Creative City, in collaboration with international talent and local creatives, to be displayed in the Alumbrado de Cali, our major light show next november, during the Media Arts UCCN Cluster annual Meeting.
