In 2024, the SCHLOSSLICHTSPIELE Light Festival will once again attract tens of thousands of people every evening from August onwards, when the 170-metre-long façade of the Karlsruhe Baroque Palace becomes one of the world’s largest stages for media art. The spectacular projection mappings have become internationally famous, and also attract visitors from outside Europe, not least because of the BBBank Award, which is being awarded for the fourth time.

The international competition is open to all artists of all ages and backgrounds. The main prize is 10,000 € and receives a grant for the production to be included in the main programme of SCHLOSSLICHTSPIELE 2024. The prize money for the runners-up is 5,000 € and 2,000 € respectively.

The motto of the upcoming SCHLOSSLICHTSPIELE refers to the 75th anniversary of the German Basic Law in 2024. For this special occasion, the submitted entries should have “Law and Democracy” as their theme. As the seat of the Federal Constitutional Court, the Federal Supreme Court and the Office of the Federal Prosecutor, Karlsruhe is the city of law in Germany.

Your submission must be complete by November 20, 2023, further information and the complete call for entries including the conditions of participation in English are available at Online application »BBBank Award in Projection Mapping 2024« | ZKM.

The award is organised by BBBank eG Karlsruhe in cooperation with ZKM | center for art and media Karlsruhe and Karlsruhe Marketing und Event GmbH (KME).
