Open Call: Welcome to my Homepage Virtual Artist Residency (Oulu Edition)

The UNESCO Cities of Media Arts Oulu (Finland) and Austin (USA) invite artists, creatives, and cultural practitioners based in the Oulu region to apply for the Welcome to my Homepage Virtual Artist Residency, a three-week online residency taking place from 8 to 31 January 2027.

Hosted by The Museum of Human Achievement (MoHA) in Austin, Welcome to my Homepage is an international online residency programme dedicated to the creation and appreciation of new net art. Since 2014, the programme has provided artists with an accessible space to experiment, play, and explore the web as a site for creative production.

This special Oulu edition seeks proposals for browser-based creative projects that engage with contemporary digital culture. We especially welcome ideas inspired by northern perspectives, Arctic realities, online communities, alternative internet cultures, and digital futures emerging from the edges rather than the centre. No coding experience is required.

• Virtual studio visits and mentoring

• Online presentation for four months
• Inclusion in pop-up exhibitions in Oulu and Austin during 2027

Eligibility

Applicants must be based in the Oulu region, Finland. The call is open to artists and creatives of all backgrounds and disciplines, particularly those who have not previously had access to similar international opportunities.
